Join us for a powerful interdisciplinary evening exploring migration, resilience, and belonging through film, live music, and conversation.
The program features the premiere of A RETURN HOME, a black-and-white cinéma vérité documentary that follows Ukrainian journalist Nataliia Ruda as she meets fellow asylum seekers rebuilding their lives in Ireland. Directed by Jon Cox, Associate Professor of Art and Design, the film invites reflection on displacement and the search for home.

Tuesday, November 4 | 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Roselle Center for the Arts | 110 Orchard Road | Newark, DE 19716
Evening includes a welcome reception with light refreshments, film screening and post-movie Q & A with panelists.
The film screening will be accompanied by a live performance of the original score by composer Patrick Long, performed by pianist Jennifer Blyth. The piano soundtrack ripples throughout the film like currents of water, enhancing the pacing and amplifying the emotions of Ukrainians forced to begin their lives anew in a foreign land. “I think live performance brings a sense of urgency and presence to a film--especially now, when people can listen to recorded music anywhere at any time,” says Blyth.
Opening Remarks by Knight Sor, former Cambodian refugee and Conciliation Specialist, U.S. Department of Justice, Senior Peacemaker.
